James Hurst, Vice President, Director of Sales and Marketing (Domestic)

James Hurst is in charge of all sales and product marketing efforts in the United States. He has spent more than 30 years with the company beginning with a role in engineering technical support. James assisted with the development of the company’s walk-through and hand-held security products and served as the technical manager for Garrett’s security equipment at the Beijing, Torino, Salt Lake City, Sydney, Atlanta, Barcelona, Seoul and Los Angeles Olympic Games. He has also served as the project manager for the Academy Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, ESPN’s ESPY Awards, Emmy Awards and Grammy Awards.

James holds an Associates degree in Electronics Technology and he later earned a Bachelors Degree in Career Arts from Dallas Baptist University.

Henry Tellez, Vice President, Director of International Sales and Marketing

Henry Tellez has been in charge of all international sales of Garrett hobby and security products since 1990 and plays a lead role in international logistics management. In this role, he has served as the Olympics project leader for security walk-through and hand-held metal detection equipment for the Vancouver, Beijing, Sydney and Barcelona Games.

Henry travels extensively around the globe to meet with distributors, dealers and customers as Garrett’s global presence continues to grow. After initially joining Garrett in 1980, he gained considerable experience in manufacturing, packaging, customer service and technical support before taking on the responsibility of international sales. Henry holds a certificate in International Business and Trade from Richland College and understands a number of languages.

Ted Johnson, Director of Accounting & Finance

Ted Johnson is responsible for accounting and financial management at Garrett. He directs the company’s budget, tax, credit, audit and all general accounting activities.

Johnson holds the B.A. degree from Oakland University (Rochester, MI) and the Ph.D. degree from Claremont Graduate School (Claremont, CA). Before joining Garrett, he served as Controller of Southhampton Enterprises, Dallas, Texas. He has extensive experience in the manufacturing sector and holds the CFPIM (Certificate in Production and Inventory Management) from APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society). Johnson joined Garrett in 1999.
